Trauma & Addictions
"Not all traumatized persons are addicts, but all addicts are traumatized." Eric Gentry, PH.D., LMHC
We seek hope and peace from our struggles. Those who have experienced trauma often find themselves in a perpetual state of threat. To cope with this feeling, we may resort to harmful methods that affect both ourselves and those around us. The aim is to manage this threat response effectively, reducing the need for self medication. I employ mindfulness techniques, psychoeducation, and cognitive restructuring to help individuals self-regulate and move towards post-traumatic growth, resilience, and hope.

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." Viktor Frankl
